After six years of watching the front porch of my 1906 house deteriorate and swearing to do something about it, I finally started the project in summer of 2006.
And searching the Internet and scanning through some how-to books, I found that my parameters and structure were not entirely common, most articles covered new decks, interior stairs and building up from scratch. So hopefully this article can help the old house fixer who’s presented with unique problems and give some ideas for make-it-up-as-you-go solutions.
