Hard day's work

Us early morning risers like to get up and get the workin' done. Finished off the deck, and started on the back stairs, ran the hound and fed the chicken. Now the weekend.

Dogtown USA

So the farmdog and I headed town to Pioneer Courthouse Square for the big honor - as the PDX was named dog friendliest city by Dog Fancy Magazine.
Canine agility, free treats and an award for the mayor of our fair city. Loop was quite well beahved for a country girl in the big city.
Oh - we also may be appearing on a local newscast - hmmm - wonder who?

Good Wood

I've started an article on my latest rebuilding project. There's more to come - and if you're a publisher looking to buy the piece drop me a line.

After six years of watching the front porch of my 1906 house deteriorate and swearing to do something about it, I finally started the project in summer of 2006.
And searching the Internet and scanning through some how-to books, I found that my parameters and structure were not entirely common, most articles covered new decks, interior stairs and building up from scratch. So hopefully this article can help the old house fixer who’s presented with unique problems and give some ideas for make-it-up-as-you-go solutions.

And so far:

Back in time

Hey Journey - that keyboard works better when it's attached to the cement wall.

Blue Oyster Cult rocking "I'm burning for you" in the LA aquaduct in front of a burning car.

Holy lord I'm sitting in my parents' house watching 'Classic VH1' 80s music videos and I seem to remember doing this 20 years ago. Old Elvis C from the Armed Forces days, the Furs, Men at Work ... The folks got a big fancy TV with lots of channels and I plan on mastering the remote control over the next four days. This is my vacation dammit and I plan on making sure nothing of consequence gets accomplished. Oh, and there's about 12 inches of snow here.
Read a book on the plane about a 90s power pop band that breaks up, then gets back together to achieve world domination while in their late 30s after a teenage blog chick posts them on her site.
But where oh where is RANDEE OF THE REDWOODS?

1-2-3-4

OK I'm officially bringing it.
New bass player has arrived. I know I lost the potownrecords site, but it should reappear soon under a simpler moniker.
Now for the test, we've been operating under the name 'The Cripes.'
But other possibilities are on the table. Vote and send me an email:

The Cripes
The Makeshifters
The Brand Spanking News
The Chops

Take that

Worry is of no use. We toss and turn at night, all thoughts of a tranquil, peaceful place coming back to that thorn in the inside we fear to face. Yet worry does no good at all. It rides on top, inside and in the back with every breath and thrusts itself into every situation. Yet we can do nothing about it. There is no thing in the mind that worry will erase. It will just eat us up and drive us mad.

I would rather be shot in the gut. I would rather be cut open, bleeding and severed than have worry of mind and pain in the soul and existential sickness.
When I'd be lying on the hospital bed the docs would say 'Okay, stitch this here, and don't poke it.'
'Don't put your hand in there and wear a helmet.'
'Don't swallow that whole.'
Fix it , doc.

That kind of pain is easy to face and easy to fix if you're not too messed up.
Heart and soul hurt require remedies not easily as bandaged and stiched. Worry rides shotgun.
And you end up realizing you're riding the scary-go-round just before sleep can take over.
Ouch.
